The Sims 3 coming to Mac and iPhone Summer 2009

    http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/weblogsinc/tuaw/~3/D85YcucoD14/

Filed under: Analysis / Opinion, Gaming, OS, Software, iPhone, iPod touch The Sims 3 is the latest iteration of the best-selling computer game in history -- it features the ability to custom-make and create your Sims and their surroundings, and explore the neighborhoods and cities that they live in. But even more strangely, it's set for an almost simultaneous release on PC, Mac, the iPhone and the iPod touch. The popularity of iPhone apps may have done what Mac gamers couldn't do for years: convince developers that releasing their games simultaneously on Mac and PC was worth it. While EA only has a release date for the PC version so far (June 2), the company is saying that Mac, iPhone and the iPod touch versions will be out in "Summer of 2009," which is much better than, say, years later.Of course, we'll have to believe it when we see it -- EA uses Transgaming for their Mac ports, and they've left a little bit to be desired so far. But just the fact that they plan an almost concurrent release for the sequel to one of the biggest games of all time bodes very well. The Sims 3 probably won't make too many waves in the hardcore PC gaming set, but anytime a major publisher plans a simultaneous release for a big title, we definitely give a nod of approval. Richard Zednik scored another highlight-reel goal tonight against the Islanders, and this is probably another goal of the year candidate.

The is the extended case study of the Barack Obama campaign.

This presentation was done by Igor Beuker, to 150 marketers at the SRM Guru meeting 2009 in Amsterdam.

The session lasted 2 hours and the audience was excited and inspired by Obama’s great “brand interaction strategy”. Download the presentation for the slide notes with Igor's story.

All research was done by Paul van Veenendaal, who used over 250 different sources to create this huge slide deck.

Back to the Future Alternate Ending

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwyrNmrO-NE

Doc Brown overshoots the future by a few years...

"One of our favorite mash ups of all time. You'll see the flux capacitor go where no man has gone before." -Attack of the Show, G4 television

from a conversation I'm having with someone that doesn't like my videos: lonstar70 wrote: You're a "recent graduate" of film school and all you can do is edit together previous stuff. Please, post this as you said you would. Here is the real genius who started it all. He did it in 2006. Way before your stuff. And much funnier and to the point.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2dd6PA7gag

I responded with: You make a lot of assumptions. That's a bad habit. The account I sent you that other message from was also mine. On it I have many other projects posted that I worked on. Way to assume all I've ever done is edit eight one minute movie scenes together though, you're a true visionary of our time. You did read my profile though, bravo! You will have also read then that this profile is where I post videos as more of a hobby for learning editing software. Nice try not mentioning that, but I also know what it says in my profile...I worte it. I'm glad to see your easily provoked back into an argument after twice saying you were done. Going back on your word is another bad habbit. You've also taking up the new habit of giving and gather views. It's never to late to change I suppose. A good thing, this is getting entertaining.

Point 1: You're still accusing me of being simplistic for only editing previous material together. That video you redirected me to, the Star Trek IV alternate ending that you like so much? It's a far simpliar edit than a single one of my videos, with or without the Star Trek Three footage.

Point 2, and I really like this one: We've already established that I'm not the first person to use the Enterprise destruction footage. I like to think that "real genius who started it all" would actually enjoy my videos. You can look up dates, this is good. But it seems you're only good at looking up dates when it helps your argument. His picture has 82,000 in 2 and a half years, Mine has 200,000 views in two and a half months. Those numbers seem to speak pretty loudly about the entertainment value of my video to me... And I think the guy who did the STIV ending would enjoy seeing how his concept (if was even the first to do it, I challenge that you know that sir) has inspired such a successful and creative follow up. You seem to think he should want to sue me. I'm not sure what for...stealing the same copyrighted material I suppose. History has shown that innovation is just as valid and important a part of the creative process as origination. In fact, without inspiration I would argue that there would be no art or entertainment at all, we would still be painting on cave walls. Your band on myspace has listed inspirations, does it not? I get back to this point later.

Point 3: I responded to this in my very first response to your first response, but you seem to ignore that fact. I used the Enterprise destruction footage in exactly two of my so far eight videos, that's 25%. And the one you criticize most heavily for using it was my very first video (again with the dates). I admit it is one of my weaker ones, but many people still seem to have liked it. Should Spielberg or Scorsese try to burn all the copies of their weaker works? No.

Finally, I want to get back to a point on a fallacy of yours that I brought up earlier. But if this is anything like the last time I pointed out a fallacy in your logic, you'll completely ignore it in your rebuttal and somehow consider that a victory. You seem to feel that anything that is riffing on someone else's idea is completely irrelevant and unentertaining. OKAY, I guess they should never have made the Star Trek feature films then. Or any television series after TOS for that matter. I guess Alfred Hitchcock should never have made the superior remake of "The Man Who Knew Too Much". Led Zeppelin? Throw out their first two albums. Their song "Whole Lotta Lovin'" is the exact same song as Willie Dixon's "You Need Love," but it changed rock history. You're not the first person to ever run a video backwards, oh but your backwards video is "so much more original than mine" (I laughed as I wrote that). Do you like the Beatles? Or any rock music since them? They started as a cover band! Just as I have used the Enterprise destruction footage, along with other concepts inspired by others. But you know, the majority, and I mean overwhelming majority, seems to like my videos. I don't need to validate myself to you, my doing this is all just academic...At least it's academic from my side.
